People always ask if we support orphans overseas. This is one of the ways we have helped in Kenya. We love seeing these sweet smiles and this beautiful update with our partner from Our Journey! Checkout the happy faces on the children at Our Journey Academy in Njoro, Kenya. The Yogurt has arrived!!
Hope & Homes Dinner September 2022
The Hope & Homes dinner at HollyOaks on the Marsh was super SUPER successful! We had several great speakers share their hearts on adoption, foster care, and about Love One. Our emcee, Drew Humphreys, did a great job sharing Love One’s story to include celebrating how we started, ten years of ministry growth, and our goals for the future. Our keynote speaker, Korie Robertson, shared her family’s legacy of faith, and her adoption stories and gave us first-hand highlights about the Duck Dynasty family. Music was provided by the Compassion Christian Late Church Band. They kept things lively during the silent auction and reminded us that we needed to celebrate and dance. Our silent auction was another highlight of the night as there was a little bit of everything to bid on. Thank you to our generous silent auction donors and dinner sponsors! We could not have had this dinner without your generosity! The night ended with some of our favorite chocolate chip cookies as a thank you. We appreciate everyone who came to celebrate our TENTH year of ministry and helped kick off our next decade of service to the fatherless! A big thank you to HollyOaks on the Marsh for hosting our fabulous event. If you didn’t come this year, don’t worry we are already planning our next dinner and we’ll save you a seat.
Dinner Sponsors and Silent Auction Donors–
A fabulous night takes lots of volunteers and donors. Our night would not have been as successful without your donations and blessings. Not everyone feels that homes and hearts are needed for the fatherless, or that kids in care need forever families or a loving foster family, but these businesses and donors do and we are grateful for their kindness!
Hope for the Journey Conference
We had a great turnout last month for the Hope for the Journey Conference at Compassion Christian Church. 71 people were trained in person or virtually. It was nice to see so many families interested in learning about Connecting, Correcting, and Empowering kids using the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) skills. As a team, we can say this material is the best hands-on way to change generations by helping kids heal from trauma by retraining the brain through play and connecting to each child. A great book to follow up and read to learn more about connecting with your child and helping them heal from trauma is The Connected Child by Dr. Karen Purvis. It can be found at your local library or most bookstores.
And a special Thank You for our Volunteers!
Diaper Drive April 1st – April 30th
Did you know that 1 in 3 families struggles to provide diapers for their families?
Did you know that diapers cannot be purchased with food stamps?
Did you know that not having enough diapers can keep a baby out of daycare which means a parent cannot go to work, which simply keeps someone down who is desperately trying to make ends meet.
One of our Care Partners, @morningstar_storage on Ogeechee Road, is holding a diaper drive for Love One throughout the month of April. Everyone who donates a new package of diapers gets an entry into a drawing for a $75 Texas Roadhouse gift card! Thank you Morningstar, for partnering with us to help families. And please consider Morningstar on Ogeechee Road for all your storage needs.
